Abstract

This article examines the influence of emotional intelligence on the processes of interpreting linguistic units in intercultural communication. Particular attention is paid to diplomatic discourse as one of the most complex forms of institutional communication, requiring a high degree of communicative competence, empathy, and the ability to consider culturally determined characteristics of speech perception.
