Abstract

The status and prestige of English as a global means of communication continue to grow worldwide. In this context, the use of authentic English-language texts in Uzbek language instruction is becoming increasingly relevant. This article presents evidence demonstrating the effectiveness and advantages of this approach and discusses certain common features shared by English and Uzbek despite their belonging to different language families. The author also offers recommendations on the types of sources that should be used when selecting texts for instructional purposes.
